Chapter 1, Mandate of Heaven Summary

Julian Delphiki (Bean) is the most gifted student to ever attend Battle School. He is an elite member of Ender's Jeesh and genetically modified. Because of genetics, his life span is predicted to be only a couple decades. Bean marries Petra Arkanian and she is now pregnant with their first child, except that eight other embryos of theirs have been stolen. The surrogate mothers are sent into hiding by the man who stole the embryos and implanted them in the other women. Besides finding the eight mothers, Bean and Petra are pitted against other members of Ender's Jeesh in an effort to bring peace to the earth.
