Orator and Garbage Collector Summary and Analysis
The chapter opens with a Scripture that encapsulates Jim Elliot's mindset. "Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might." (P. 28) As an attractive young student in high school, Jim Elliot used his keen intellect to not only do well in school, but to also help other students understand the lesson. Along with schoolbooks, he carries his Bible and is readily willing to explain the Scriptures to other students if they are willing talk or have questions about God's Word. Faith is not a separate part of his life only practiced on Sundays, but is how he lives daily. His love of God's Word and desire to follow his will leads to a wariness of girls because he thinks they lure men from their goals. He also does not cave to peer pressure...
