Chapters 23-26 Summary

In Chapter 23, Rose rushes to where Lissa is being attacked by other Moroi in a distant corner of the school grounds and stops the attack by physically attacking several of the people there. When Rose goes to Lissa, she discovers that Lissa is using compulsion to force Jesse to see his darkest nightmares as real. Rose talks Lissa down and makes her stop, taking the darkness from her. However, Rose is then filled with the darkness and she attacks Jesse. Dimitri takes Rose away, walking her to a small cabin not far away. Inside the cabin, Dimitri talks Rose down, helping her deal with the darkness. When Rose finally calms, they begin to kiss, finally consummating their relationship. When Dimitri and Rose leave the cabin, Rose sees Mason. Mason manages to warn Rose that someone is coming.
