Chapters 18-22 Summary

In Chapter 18, Rose wakes in the academy infirmary. Dimitri, Alberta, and Dr. Olendski are there. Rose is forced to tell the truth about what happened. Dr. Olendski is of the opinion that Rose is reacting to the stress of killing two Strigoi, losing Mason, and having to undergo the guardian test. Dr. Olendski wants Rose taken out of the test, but Rose will not hear of it. Finally it is agreed that Rose will do the test part time and she will begin seeing a counselor. When Rose leaves, Dimitri walks her back to her dorm. Taking a risk, Dimitri stops and pulls Rose into his arms, telling her how hard it was for him to watch her in pain and not be able to help.
