Part 2: Chapter 7-15 Summary
Severian exits the cave and once outside finds he is being fired upon by archers. He manages to dodge and sees Agia among the two men that are shooting. He is saddened and outraged because he knows that this means for a fact that Thecla is dead. Severian makes his way to Agia and one of the archers and is able to kill the man. He throws her to the ground and puts his boot on her chest to hold her there.
From the top of the cave a voice calls down to Severian. Jonas has followed him, and the beast runs back into the cave. Jonas and Severian are able to keep Agia under control, and she tells him of how she had plotted his death using his dear, dead Thecla as bait. Jonas goes back to the...
