Chapter 9 - Chapter 16 Summary
In Chapter 9, Baghra is an ancient woman who looks young, and who will be working with Alina on controlling her powers. Alina is also given a tremendous amount of history and theory to learn. As Alina heads to combat training with Marie and Nadia, she notices the Apparat, a fanatic attached to the king, staring at her. Her lessons go horribly, and the Darkling requests to see her in his war chambers. He asks about how her day went, and Alina is not happy. He tells her things will get better. He notices her rubbing her palm with her thumb, which she says is an old habit. He alsk asks Alina about Mal, and then turns in for the night.
