Summary

In “Jacaranda” and “The Ocean,” Jacaranda and her sister April grew up near the ocean in Santa Monica. Both sisters spent their time surfing “at the edge of the ocean and knew it was paradise” (4). Their father was something of a musical genius who played in the movie orchestra, and their mother was a beauty. As Jacaranda grows up, she also is beautiful, and spends more time surfing than going to school. After she graduates, Jacaranda decides not to go to college, but decides she will paint everything in blue.

Jacaranda is in love with Colman in “True Love.” Her older boyfriend is a nearly-divorced actor when he and Jacaranda start dating. But after three weeks, he and his wife decide to reunite. Jacaranda moves out of Colman’s house, but they continue to see each other even after he gets back...
