Section 12: Chapters 28-30 Summary
In Chapter 28, Comonot kills the priest, though the sword could not penetrate Seraphina's scales, but he is confused by the emotions urging him to protect her. Seraphina is stunned to recognize the priest as Thomas Broadwick. When Lucian arrives, Seraphina uses her saint's burthen as an excuse for why the attempted stabbing did not injure her. Discussing the situation with Lucian, Seraphina admits to her past with Thomas and even presents her quig idol which rants about dragons transforming into humans when Lucian twists its head. Still, Lucian suspects Seraphina of lying to him, but when she insists that she has never wanted to lie to him, he apologizes for his harshness and offers his protection, pointing out that he cannot help her if he does not know what is going on; yet, he reminds her that he considers...
