Section 5: Chapters 10-12 Summary
In Chapter 10, Seraphina is amazed by the megaharmonium, and when she finally meets Lars, Viridius's protege, she is stunned to recognize Loud Lad, one of her grotesques, who explains that he followed her here because he heard her play music in his dreams. As they talk, Josef approaches and begins yelling at Lars until his horse kicks Lars into the river. While Lars dresses in dry clothes, Seraphina sings to create a distraction after glimpsing Lars' scales and realizing that he is also a half dragon. Lucian arrives, but Lars refuses to press charges against Josef before leaving dejectedly.
On the way back to Castle Orison in Chapter 11, Lucian notes that Seraphina's knowledge of dragons is not explained by her father's work with Comonot's Treaty. He suspects her information comes from her dragon teacher, Orma. Praising her musical talent...
