Summary
In Chapter 17, Gary and Judy attend the retreat. They are seated at opposite tables, and Gregory explains that couples need to disconnect and form bonds with other people. Gary jokes that they are already disconnected enough. Judy is embarrassed.
Sari arrives and explains the importance of talking about the role of relationships in the creative process. All of the other attendees are women younger than Judy. The group begins by meditating on the floor together, but Judy struggles to relax. When they move onto the first creative exercise, Gary is excited by all of the colors they have for drawing. Judy apologizes for him, telling another woman that he was not even supposed to be there. She replies that Gary told them he was a musician before and wishes he could play again, surprising Judy. The group continues to move through the exercises...
