Summary
In Chapter 27, when Allie and Joseph arrived at the rest stop they discovered that Manuel was in such bad shape that he could not walk. It took Joseph and the three other men to get him into the bed of the truck. When they arrived at the cabin where Allie had been living, a doctor started Manuel on an IV antibiotic and gave him pain medicine. The following afternoon, the doctor was satisfied with Manuel’s condition. She also examined Javier, Peter, and Victor who had also been injured in the attack.
Later, Joseph and Allie walked through the restaurant to see what repairs were needed. Javier, Peter, and Victor went with them.
