Cicero
Cicero is the main character in all five chapters of the book, even if only as author. He is widely thought to be one of history's finest statements, philosophers, politicians and orators. Cicero was born in 106 B.C. just before the birth of Julius Caesar. He grew up rich but unlike most families, his did not have a role in politics. His education was that of an elite Roman citizen and had him study rhetoric and philosophy. He eventually became a lawyer and when he became famous due to his legal and rhetorical skill, he was elected to the Senate in 76 B.C. In 63 B.C. he became a Roman consul and ruled effectively.
