In Chapter Twenty-Five, fighting erupts in the valley area of Keeper's Dale. Alustriel distracts the drow as the Knights in Silver join the battle. As Alustriel thinks over the difficulty she had in convincing the leaders of her city to send aid to the battle, she wonders what is happening to her city. She realizes the trouble lies not in the knights but in the politicians. Although Silverymoon was once considered one of the most generous cities, they seem to be losing this quality.
