For one brief moment, Alix sees David in another time and place and realizes with suddenness that she does love him, but now it is all too late. She begins to try to explain the history of their families and their involvement in Dachau Two. She tells him that his grandparents and hers had contributed heavily financially since the early forties and fifties.
