David tries to absorb everything he has learned. Heather's shooting was an accident. The terrorist group killed Elena and Nick, and Elena had been supporting this secret group until recently when Nick had convinced her to stop. By breaking a thirty-five year silence and threatening to expose the group, they had frightened those in charge of the final plot and forced action on their part. He felt like such a fool for having believed in Alix, and the horror of the entirety of it was enough to make him finally wash his hands of the whole issue.
