During the next days and weeks, Dawn does her chores and puts up with Emily's abuse with no attempts to fight back. Her only comfort is the idea of the beautiful child to whom she will give birth. By this time, Dawn is in her seventh month of pregnancy. Although she has started getting short of breath and is very large, Emily does not reduce her chores.
