Chapter 14 - A Letter to Trisha Summary
Dawn settles into her routine of work. Every day is like the others except on Sundays, the ladies have prayer in a makeshift chapel in the house. Even Luther attends the service. Sunday breakfast is a reward for proper behavior at the church service. Eggs, grits and butter, and blueberry muffins are the menu for that day's breakfast. On Sundays, the three also take their baths. Emily bathes first and Charlotte is next. Dawn bathes last, horrified by the idea that she has to bathe in the same water in which the others washed. The water is heated over a fire and hauled in by Luther. During one of Dawn's baths, Emily decides the water is not hot enough and has Luther bring in a couple more pails, while Dawn is still naked...
