Chapter 8 - Vows of Love Summary
Michael asks Dawn about her father and she admits that she doesn't know who he is. He offers to help her find her father. In the weeks after their affair, Dawn feels as if Michael treats her in a very cold and impersonal manner. One day after their lesson, Michael explains to her that the dean had mentioned to him that he shouldn't be to familiar with his students. He asks her to come back to his apartment that evening. During her piano lesson Madame Steichen becomes so upset with Dawn's lack of attention that she breaks her wooden pointer over the piano. She tells Dawn she does not like what she sees in her eyes.
