Chapter 1 - A New Adventure, A New Friend Summary
Dawn meets a soldier who reminds her of Jimmy who helps her retrieve her baggage from the luggage carousel. A taxi driver takes Dawn to a brownstone belonging to Agnes Morris or the lady with whom Dawn will board. In the sitting room of the house, Agnes tells Dawn that she has gotten a letter from her grandmother describing all of Dawn's former problems. Agnes will not let Dawn see the letter, but tells her that she is under probation from the beginning of her stay. She also describes the chores that each resident is expected to do and tells her about the other residents of the house. She will share a room with Trisha Kramer. Agnes tells Dawn that if she even needs to talk, she is welcome...
