The Ninth Summary

Mac takes Jessica into his office to yell at her for going off on her own in the city. She tells him that the tour changed her life, changed her college plans. He congratulates her and the next day, in front of the whole class, he hands her a sealed letter of recommendation.

When Jessica gets back to the dorms, she shares the news with Bridget and Ashleigh. Ashleigh makes the assumption that Jessica is going to Columbia to follow Paul, even though he's a homosexual. Jessica shoots Bridget another dirty look. Jessica admits to the reader that she didn't open Mac's letter because she doesn't like reading other people's assessment of her intelligence.
