August First Summary

Jessica writes a letter to Hope. She says she searched her journal for the greatness Mac saw, but she doesn't see it. What Jessica admits to seeing is a lot of negativity and very little focus on the good people and positive experience she's had so far at the program. She says she doesn't have much of an interest in fostering friendships with any of these people because it is exhausting trying to keep long-distance relationships afloat.

August First Analysis

When Jessica is in a situation, she has a hard time seeing it from an outsider's perspective. Reading her journal, however, allowed her to reflect on what she has been writing.
