60 years later, the fourteen-year-old, Arcadia Darell is at home working on an essay about the Seldon Plan when a man appears at her bedroom window. He asks Arcadia to let him in, but she tells him must have the wrong house because she is not that sort of girl. The man is struggling to keep his grip on the window and tells her he has come to see her father about a very important matter. Arcadia opens the window, and the man scrambles into her room.
