May 11, 1979, Pages 289-328 Summary
On Friday morning, which would be the last day of the "season," Meral Johnson and Peter Macdonald are sharing breakfast when Meral realizes that he's feeling paternal toward Peter. Peter tells Meral that he "keeps fantasizing" that Jane isn't really dead. Meanwhile, Damian Rose is in Tralawney working on a Bertram Sportsman boat. The owner of the boat, landscape artist Eric Downes, is dead in a closet of his nearby home. Damian spends some time thinking about Carrie - good memories of spending time together. Then he puts the new machete in the cockpit of the boat. He notes that the time is almost 9:00 and realizes that Carrie should be on her way to Morocco. However, Carrie is actually at a bank in Zurich. She withdraws six hundred, twenty-nine thousand dollars and moves it across the street to another...
