The section begins with an account of the events on the island. There were nine murders on the second day, but only four were machete killings. As the idea that a full revolution is about to erupt, news crews from around the world flock to the island while tourists rush to leave.
On May 3, 1979, at Titchfield Cove, Damian climbs a cliff, assemblies a rifle and shoots Walter Marks as he and his two children walk along the beach. Damian fires only a single shot, apparently not shooting the children. Then Kingfish and the Cuban arrive on the beach with machetes. Damian says that "fortunately, but at the same time unfortunately" the children had to be witnesses but there's no indication of whether the children were killed.
