Summary
In Chapter 16, Amy is biking through the streets of Amsterdam when she encounters a man. It is Filip. He introduces himself, but Amy does not know that he is the man who was teaching Sylvie cello, nor does Filip volunteer that information. They quickly establish a friendly rapport. In Chapter 17, Filip invites Amy to have lunch with him. By this point, Amy knows that he is a professional cellist, but she still neither knows nor suspects that he was Sylvie’s cello teacher. Amy finds herself quickly developing romantic feelings for Filip. Amy attends one of Filip’s performances, and they meet afterwards. Amy has always had an interest in music, and she surprises Filip with her knowledge. They go to lunch together, and Amy says that she is looking for her missing sister Sylvie.
