Summary

Part 2, Chapter 2 flashes back to when Mirella was nine years old, walking home from school with her sister. The girls heard gunshots and entered an underpass, where they found two men on the ground who had been shot, and a third holding a gun. A fourth man was running away. The man holding the gun looked at Mirella and said her name. Now, Mirella knew that man was Gaspery Roberts. Mirella got a text from her girlfriend, Louisa, about a party where they were supposed to meet.

In Chapter 3, Mirella arrived at the party in Soho and went out onto the rooftop patio. She remembered a night over a decade earlier when she was at this same apartment, on the patio with Vincent and Faisal. A woman approached Mirella and asked for a light, claiming she would read her fortune...
