Summary
The migrants divide the hull in two to hold Heeru’s wedding at sea. That night they go up on the deck of the ship and sea a full moon. Deeti feels her child rolling in her belly, like the motion of the ship. Nob Kissin visits the convicts in their cell and brings them gifts of fresh fruit and other food under the guise of an inspection. They speak in English so the guards will not overhear them. Neel asks why Nob Kissin has been so kind to them and he finally tells him about his guru, Ma Tarmony. Neel recognizes the name because his mistress, Elokeshi, had often spoken of the guru. Neel splits the treats with Ah Fatt. Ah Fatt swears he will kill Mr. Crowle.
Near the end of the wedding, the bride and the groom must walk seven circles...
