Chapters 7-13 Summary
In Chapter 7, a local businessman named Guilfoyle comes to police headquarters and tells Jesse that a month earlier a young woman rented a small sailboat from him for the day and never returned it. The boat has finally turned up at a large dock on the other side of the harbor, where it has sat unnoticed until just a few days ago; it has trash and empty wine bottles on it, but nothing else. Guilfoyle says that he has a credit card slip and the woman's driver's license, and Jesse says he will need to hold onto the license to get in touch with the woman.
