Chapter 8 Summary

Kaitlin's dad, Garner, calls that night. Kaitlin then goes out to get pizza, and meets Bram's friends Matt and Jenny. Kaitlin also sees her best friend from Holy Trinity Academy, Becky, whom she goes into the bathroom with to explain what is going on. Becky is beside herself that Kaitlin is lying and going around with a Crutchfield. Kaitlin begs to use Becky's address as her own, telling Becky that she is in love with Bram already.

Bram later explains to Kaitlin that his father is dead. Bram says it has been especially hard on his little brother Josh, who is only in kindergarten. Bram then invites Kaitiln to a barbeque at his house the following day. Kaitlin is intrigued to find out if the other Crutchfields are hateful, or normal like Bram.
