Jordan Banks

Jordan Banks is the main character and artist in this graphic novel. He is a light-skinned Black student who wants to be a famous artist. Jordan argues that Blacks often do not believe they can achieve their dreams, or even that they have the right to dream, because they see so few people like themselves represented in literature. Jordan is accepted to attend a private art school and must make a decision whether he wants to go to the new school or stay at RAD. At the end of the novel, Jordan’s parents tell him that he will be staying at RAD. Jordan is angry that his parents made that decision without his input, but he had already decided that he was going to stay at RAD.
