Summary

At the beginning of Chapter 24, Twilly comes to get Nick and Duane Jr. They also pick up Marta. Twilly has the hound dog who had not died. The dog was lured away by Twilly. The group joins Mrs. Starch in the swamp and start looking for the panther. It is foggy, but Twilly says at least there will not be helicopters flying overhead. Twilly finds panther poop and Smoke starts to use his tracking skills. Everyone follows him. The narrative then switches to Jimmy Lee Bayliss and Drake McBride who go to meet Special Agent Conway, the game warden, in the swamp . They know that the dog was not eaten, but Jimmy Lee says that they had to pay the man off because he knows about Section 22. When they arrive they tell the game warden that they will fully cooperate.
