Mississippi (Mibs) Beaumont
Mississippi "Mibs" Beaumont is the main character in the story. As a special girl turning thirteen, Mibs has enough problems in life just being a teenage girl with a savvy, but with the added strain of her father's accident, Mibs has enough problems to make anyone depressed. Her savvy, the ability to hear tattoos speak about their owners and to speak the thoughts of the owners, seems minor, but causes her problems throughout the novel as she hears Lester berate himself, hears Bobbi's own fearful thoughts, and hears secrets she isn't supposed to know. Mibs, however, is a positive thinker and throughout the novel remains positive and bright, always searching for the good in a situation. She, like most thirteen year old girls, is plagued with occasional selfish thoughts, but these are quickly reigned in and replaced with thoughts and cares for others. When Mibs runs...
