Summary
In Chapter 3, after the squash match, Henry phones the law office where Rosalind works. However, the secretary says that Rosalind is in a meeting at the moment. Henry begins to drive home. He is scheduled to visit his mother later in the day. His mother lives in a nursing home and is suffering from dementia. Henry listens to protest speeches on the radio as he drives. On the way home, Henry purchases fish for the evening’s planned family dinner, which will take place at his home. The dinner attendees will be himself, Rosalind, Theo, Daisy, and John Grammaticus. John Grammaticus is Rosalind’s father and a famous poet. John’s love of poetry helped to foster Daisy’s love of poetry and other literature.
