Summary
In Chapter 6.3, Henry tries to monitor Martin more closely, but Henry still has to tend to business at the mill, which takes up a lot of his time. In order to take Martin away from the house for a day, Henry enlists Martin in mowing the tall grass around the mill. After the mowing is finished, Henry recalls a woman who lived nearby, years ago, and who owned slaves. A male slave and a female slave were in love, but the slave owner woman disallowed them from marrying, and the female slave was sold to a distant owner. The man was distraught and was consistently sad from then on. Henry tries to figure out the best way of getting rid of Martin. The only thing he can think of is paying him to leave, but he fears that bribing his nephew with money might...
