Summary

In Chapter 26, shortly after her flight began boarding, an attendant detained Anna. He checked her Bamanaian passport and told her she was on the "no-fly list of Bamanaians" and could not leave the country (237). Her citizenship had been illegally obtained. Soon Anna found herself in a cell. She could not understand what was happening. When she told the guards who her father was, they did not believe her. Neither her money nor her British passport had any power to secure her release.

In Chapter 27, Anna woke up in her cell. She talked to the other prisoners. They had also been detained without apparent reason. Anna understood that "Kofi's enemies" had become hers (249). Eventually the guards released her.

Back in her room, Anna called Rose. Rose was angry and hung up. Kofi visited Anna. Anna asked him about her mother and aunt. When Anna...
