The YMCA

Sam and Noah begin going to the YMCA after school following their move from the house into the apartment. Because Courtney has had to take on a second job to afford rent, she needs the children at the Y in the afternoon hours.

During these days at the Y, Sam rediscovers her love of climbing. She first came here with her father when he initially promised to teach her climbing. In her after school program, she not only develops her skills, but makes new friends. She and a girl named Halle become particularly close via the Y.

Boulders

Boulders is the rock climbing gym that Sam begins visiting with Halle. Her dad initially takes her here when she is young. She and Halle start coming to Boulders on the weekends in order to participate in their climbing team.
