The Ninth Day: Hurricane Eclipse Summary

Esche wakes up and finds Daddy hunched over the toilet. He tells her to get Randall, who is out in the shed with China. The two return to Daddy, then carry him back to his bed, which is surrounded by beer cans. He was not supposed to drink alcohol with the medications he was given to manage the pain from his severed fingers. His children assure him that they will help prepare the house for the coming hurricane. Skeetah is going into town to steal some supplies, and buy a few others.

Later, Esche goes looking for Junior because she needs his help with work that she's been doing. She finds him next to Daddy, and when she pulls him out of the room, he says that Daddy was not breathing. He also has found...
