Chapter 6 Summary

Danny Glick is buried in Harmony Hill Cemetery on September 28. Mike Ryerson and Royal Snow dig Danny's grave in the morning. Many people from the community are there for the funeral. Father Callahan gives a short service during which Danny's father has a complete breakdown and shouts at Danny to quit pretending that he is dead. After the funeral is over and the people leave, Mike waits a while for Royal Snow because Royal is supposed to help him fill in the grave. As Mike waits, he feels as if someone is watching him. Royal does not show up, so Mike eventually begins to fill the grave in by himself, but he still feels like he is being watched, and he is afraid. He tries to fill the grave in as quickly as possible so that he can leave before dark, but he...
