Dorchester is the neighborhood in Boston in which all of the members of the Rafferty family lived when they immigrated to America from Ireland.

Miltown Malbay is the town in Ireland where Nora and Theresa lived with their family before the sisters immigrated to America. Nora was disappointed by what she saw when she returned to Ireland when John paid for the family to visit there before Charlie died.
