Summary

Ian blames himself for Danny’s death. He thinks Danny killed himself because of what he told him. He wishes he could tell his mom what he did, and she could kick him out. He even wishes that it was something that he could go to jail for. He does not tell his mother this because it is assumed that it was an accident--not suicide. Cicely is the only person he tells the whole story to. She attempts to ease his guilt by telling him it is not his fault. Ian goes to college in September. He feels it is a new beginning. Cicely visits him on weekends from her college in Philadelphia and stays in his dorm room.
