Chapters 5 and 6 Summary

When Katie enters the store, she has a conversation with Kristen about the picture Kristen is coloring. When Alex sees Katie, he says he set aside from vegetables from a local farm for her. When he mentions his wife, Katie questions him, and he says he should have said late wife. He tells Katie she died a couple years ago. Katie thinks about what Jo said about asking Alex about his situation. Katie also gets the impression that Jo is trying to fix her up with Alex but doesn't know why.

Alex points at the monitor. He's showing Katie that Josh is back to fishing, but now he is wearing a life jacket. Alex says a better father would have figured out the solution sooner, but Katie tells Alex she thinks he's a good father.

As Katie shops, Alex observes her...
