Summary
In chapter thirty-one, Agent Croft has created a plan that is finally approved by Will, Wes, and Luke. There are still several days until the drop and the family is caught up in Holly's trial in the meanwhile. The ex-wives take their places in the courtroom and greet each other, most relieved that the ordeal of testifying is soon to be over. Holly is brought in, dressed to appear sedate. Marlene is in a “skin-tight dress” and high heels, accompanied by her husband, Gordon, who appears meek. The judge is Tabitha Harris and the attorneys tell her that they've agreed to reduce the charges. Luke prepares to put Gregory's ex-wives on the stand and he begins with Loretta who talks about her life with Gregory. She says Gregory was notified when Loretta went into labor but never showed up.
