Summary
In Chapter 34, Roman has dinner with his family. Iris crawls through his window in Chapter 35. They kiss. Roman shows her around his library. They shower together, then have sex in his room.
In Chapter 36, Iris has the Aster-music dream again. Aster explains that the melody is the lullaby that King Alzane used to sing the gods to sleep. Iris says she believes Enva was never put to sleep. Rather, she struck a deal with Alzane and remained hidden in Oath. Iris wakes to the sound of Roman coughing. Roman explains that since he broke Dacre’s curse, Dacre’s healing powers no longer help him. He feels his injuries from the war. Roman confesses he thinks Enva killed Luz and the other gods. They spend the whole morning talking. Roman returns Iris’ wedding band to her and gives her a map he drew...
