Summary
In Chapter 11, Iris receives a response from Roman demanding to know her identity. She explains the magic of the Alouette typewriters and tells him he may call her Elizabeth. Marisol apologizes to Iris for her tears the night before in Chapter 12. The sound of a nightingale reminds Marisol not to keep her loved ones in a cage, even if she only wants to protect them. She gifts Iris a book about birds. Roman and Iris exchange a couple of letters about birds that night. He dreams of the day he first met Iris, at the Oath.
In Chapter 13, Roman avoids Dacre’s question about his dreams. They are driving in a lorry when they are attacked. Dacre leads Roman away from the lorry into a house. There, they find a wounded soldier of Enva’s whom Dacre offers to heal. The soldier refuses...
