Chapter 29
Nest Freemark stays in her room most of the day. Old Bob walks around the house, feeling lost without Evelyn. He thinks about what Derry Howe might be planning today. He sees a flyer advertising fireworks tonight, sponsored by Midwest Continental. He goes to find Nest, who has gone out with her friends, and may be in danger because of a possible explosion. Nest sits in a chair, contemplating the complicated events of the past few days. John Ross watches her from a distance. Nest hears Pick scream that the maentwrog is breaking out, and Nest takes off running.
Chapter 30
Robert Heppler tries to come with her, and she is forced to use her magic to stop him. She gets to the tree, and the demon is there...
