Nest Freemark goes fishing with her friends, Jared Scott, Cass Minter, Brianna Brown and Robert Heppler. The union workers sit on the picket line at Midwest Continental Steel, and Derry Howe sits in Scrubby's Bar, drinking with the demon. Robert and Brianna start to bicker, and Jared falls into a trance. Jared comes back to himself, and they walk home past the ball fields bordering the park. Danny Abbott, a boy playing baseball, sees them and comes over to harass Nest. He wants Nest to go out with him, but will not take no for an answer when she refuses. Robert tries to step in, but Danny threatens to fight him. Nest uses her magic to knock Danny down. Nest discovered her magic, that she could knock someone down by making eye contact, when she was...
