Chapters 24-25 Summary
Whenever Jessie talks to the nurse, the nurse insists that the state is checking up on her parents. In Chapter 24, the officials say they have to make sure that all of the parents are good parents to the children. Jessie insists that her parents are the best, but no one listens to her. Jessie's brothers and sisters are sent to live with foster families while Jessie stays at the hospital to get better. The social worker and police officers come in to visit Jessie but answer none of her questions.
Jessie suddenly has an idea to call Bob from the Indianapolis Gazette. Bob arrives and is excited to get the first interview with Jessie. Jessie asks that Bob answer her questions first, before she gives him the interview. Bob says that the state officials are blaming the Clifton parents so that...
