Summary
The day after Sylvia returns from Greece, Carla goes to her house to help her clean. Sylvia tells Carla about Greece and gives her a gift – a bronze replica of a boy riding a horse. The narrator notes that Sylvia had been thinking about Carla while she was in Greece, and that the boy on the horse reminded her of Carla though she was not sure why. Sylvia also brought back a stone she found on one of the roads in Greece, which she planned to give to Carla. Sylvia's friends in Greece joked that Sylvia must have a crush on Carla, and this embarrassed her. Carla's lukewarm reaction to Sylvia's first gift leads Sylvia to decide not to give her the stone.
