Summary
In Chapter 7, Prany sleeps in the abandoned house, and soon Khit arrives to meet him there. Khit informs him that they will have to acquire money somehow, as Auntie requires payment for smuggling people out of the country. Prany and Khit converse. Khit talks about her parents, but she does not say whether they are alive or dead. Prany and Khit scavenge the building, looking for food or anything of value. Prany suddenly remembers the woman in the hospital—possibly Khit’s mother—who had spoken Khit’s name aloud years ago. The next night, Prany continues to scavenge and to tour the rooms of the building. Soon, Auntie arrives at the house to meet with Prany. They briefly converse and reminisce about when they kid together in the same survivors’ camp, years ago. Auntie talks about the years she has spent helping people...
