Summary

In Chapter 19, Simon arrives at Lanford and meets with Eileen Vaughn, who had been Paige's roommate. Eileen describes Paige as overly driven during her early days of college. Eileen and another friend wondered if Paige had been assaulted at a party. Eileen says they talk a lot about assault because it is a necessary topic on a college campus, but says that could make them all immediately jump to that conclusion when something is wrong with a friend. She says Paige had said there were difficulties at home to explain her change in attitude. Eileen does not know why Paige went to see Aaron. She directs Simon to Professor Louis van de Beek, a biological sciences professor who taught genetics, saying Paige had connected with him because of her interest in a club he sponsored.
